News Category - Compensation Law By Angus Edwards 16 March 2016

The NSW Government has announced an enquiry into the Compulsory Third Party insurance scheme which provides benefits to people injured on our roads. This is also known as "green slip" insurance.

An options paper has been released by the NSW Government which outlines the challenges faced by the Scheme. It provides options to create a fairer and more affordable scheme for road users which meet the objectives including increasing the proportion of benefits provided to the most seriously injured road users, reduces the time it takes to resolve a claim, reduces opportunities for claims fraud and exaggeration and reduces the cost of Green Slip premiums.

These intentions seem well founded, however there is concern that benefits and access to legal representation will be reduced in the name of reform, similar to the workers compensation reforms which have seen 10,000's of injured workers lose their benefits and become reliant on Centrelink payments.

To assist us in making our submission, we would be interested to hear from people who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents and their experience. You can email Angus Edwards at a.edwards@kennyspring.com.au.
