Backdated Changes to Victims Compensation Cause More Pain to Victims of Crime
Bill introduced to NSW Parliament yesterday by Attorney General Greg Smith SC is a further attack on rights by the NSW Government, this time affecting victims of crime. The Victims Rights and Support Bill will take away rights and substantially reduce compensation payments to victims of crime. If passed, it will also apply retrospectively to victims who have lodged claims which are awaiting determination.
